Not an official source

This website is not affiliated with CNAIR (Compania Națională de Administrare a Infrastructurii Rutiere — Romania's national road infrastructure administration), DRDP (Direcția Regională de Drumuri și Poduri — the regional roads and bridges authorities), the Romanian Police, or any other public authority. The pass statuses shown here (open or closed) do not represent the official road situation. We try to fetch, process, and correlate the data from the CNAIR dispatcher, but since there is no official API for it, our data may not be updated in time or may be misinterpreted on our end. We do our best to keep the information accurate, but we have no power to close or open a road, and no special access to any official system.

Data and its limits

Weather is fetched from Open-Meteo and nearby weather stations, and pass statuses are updated manually or correlated against CNAIR alerts (see more on the About page). This means the information shown here can be delayed, incomplete, or simply wrong, especially after sudden weather changes, landslides, accidents, or unpredictable events we have not yet had the chance to verify.

Before you head out

We strongly urge visitors to exercise caution when making decisions based on the data shown here. Please check official sources before heading out: the latest CNAIR advisories, the local police or gendarmerie, and the forecast from Romania's national weather service (ANM).

Mountain weather can be unpredictable and fickle. We advise drivers to make sure their vehicle is properly equipped: seasonal tyres, snow chains, enough fuel. We advise motorcyclists and cyclists to carry proper gear: thermal clothing, rain jacket. Regardless of your mode of travel, we recommend telling someone where you are going before you set out, and do not hesitate to turn back if conditions look worse than expected.
