Ghimeș Pass (DN12A), at an altitude of 1153 meters, marks the crossing point of the DN12A national road over the crest of the Eastern Carpathians, connecting the Ciuc Depression in Transylvania to the Ghimeș Depression in Moldavia. The Ghimeș valley is one of the most picturesque areas of the Eastern Carpathians, with isolated villages and well-preserved traditions. The area is home to the Csángó community, a group with a unique cultural identity.
