Jiu-Cerna Pass (DN66A), at approximately 1400 meters altitude, is a wild crossing in the Southern Carpathians connecting the Western Jiu Valley with the Cerna Valley. The road is paved only for the first 28 km from the east, with the remainder being a forest road. The route offers some of Romania’s most spectacular and wild mountain scenery, with ancient conifer forests and panoramas over the Godeanu and Țarcu mountain ridges.
