Stânișoara Pass (DJ209B), also known as Hălăuca Pass, is situated at an altitude of 1235 meters in the Stânișoarei Mountains. The road, known as the “Road of the Italians,” spans 55 km and connects the Sabasa Valley with the Suha Mare Valley. The route is famously linked to Mihail Sadoveanu’s novel “The Hatchet.” The mountain area is wild and sparsely populated, with ancient fir and spruce forests.
