Ciucea Pass (DN1/E60), also known as Craiului Pass, sits at a modest altitude of 582 meters and represents the crossing point of Romania’s national road DN1 over the Western Carpathians, at the border between Bihor and Cluj counties. Though not spectacular in terms of altitude, the pass holds significant historical and cultural importance. The commune of Ciucea is home to the Octavian Goga Castle.
